Along with her father, Kaki has been supporting Hockey has Heart for many years. Born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Kaki is an avid Red Wings fan and kept involved in her brothers' hockey as they grew up. 

Kaki played on the Women's D2 Club Hockey team at Miami of Ohio where she also earned a Bachelors degree in Social Justice. While at Miami, she served on the core team for The Justification of Youth, a nonprofit that connects university students to at-risk and orphan children in the Dominican Republic. She plans to continue her education to receive a masters in Sports Nutrition.
